Hütter stresses that Uzun needs build-up work before the Leipzig clash
Eintracht coach Adi Hütter made it clear over the weekend that Can Uzun, after mild muscle complaints, is fully fit again and must do rebuilding work before the Bundesliga duel against RB Leipzig on Saturday at 18:30. After two starts in the Turkish national team's starting eleven, which he missed due to load management, Hütter emphasizes that the 20‑year‑old midfielder has now trained again.
Mild Muscle Problems and Load Management
At Eintracht Frankfurt, fans and the coach again worried about the 20‑year‑old top talent Can Uzun, because after two starts for the Turkish national team he was not in the squad for the next two matches, i.e., twice. The absence was attributed to mild muscular problems that, according to Hütter, only required load management.
Uzun trained normally and well on Thursday and is therefore again a candidate for the starting eleven this weekend, Hütter said after training.
Turkish National Team in Crisis
Despite his sporting readiness, Uzun provided no lift for the Turkish national team; with or without him all four games were lost, a run that has not occurred in Turkey for almost forty years. Coach Vincenzo Montella is therefore under pressure.
In the debacle against Italy, which ended 1‑4, Uzun was substituted at halftime, underscoring his weak performance.
Hütter's Rebuilding Work for Uzun
Hütter immediately sought a conversation after Uzun's return to build up the young player. "If you lose four times, if you and your teammates are booed, that naturally affects you," Hütter said. He added that Uzun is a young player who experiences highs and lows.
Whether Uzun will be in the starting eleven on Saturday or come off the bench remains open. Hütter emphasized: "I have to decide in our interest and for Eintracht so that we ultimately win the match – whether that is with Can Uzun or without Can Uzun."
