Hull’s £10m bid rejected as Idah backs Vipotnik’s Swansea stay

Adam Idah praised fellow striker Zan Vipotnik’s professionalism after the Slovenian started Swansea’s opening game at Stoke, while speculation swirls over his future following a rejected £10m bid from Premier League side Hull City for the 24‑year‑old in the Championship.

Hull City, known as the Tigers, have been linked with Vipotnik throughout the summer. A bid worth around £10m was turned down by Swansea before he featured against Stoke on the opening weekend.

The 24‑year‑old is the Championship golden boot winner, having netted 23 goals last season. As a Slovenian international, his scoring record has attracted interest from the Premier League.

"He's been brilliant to be fair. He's been really professional. I know what it's like to be in that situation," Idah said. "It's hard to keep your head and stay focused when there is so much talk. He's been fantastic through it all."

Idah scored the winner at Stoke with his first touch after replacing the former Bordeaux striker, underscoring Vipotnik’s impact on the pitch.

"I don't think there are many players in his situation who would do a whole pre‑season and play the first game," Idah added. "It's not easy. Who knows what's going to happen. We would be delighted if he stays here."

Idah noted that any exit for Vipotnik would open the door for him to feature more regularly in his second season at Swansea. He emphasized the importance of Vipotnik for the Swans’ promotion hopes.

Idah's ambitions and squad competition

Idah’s winner at Stoke was his third goal in two Championship fixtures, coming after a brace against Charlton Athletic last season. He recalled missing lengthy periods due to injury during his debut season in Wales and is a former Norwich man.

"I just want to stay injury‑free and score as many goals as I can," Idah said, stressing that minutes are crucial. He noted his experience in the Champions League and Premier League and said he no longer needs to prove himself.

Scotland international Ross Stewart joined Swansea on a free transfer this summer, adding competition for forward places. Idah said he is not worried about winning over manager Vitor Matos and believes Vipotnik will be vital as the club aims to finish high up the table and return to the Premier League.
