Hull City worry after Lucas Gourna-Douath’s crash near training ground
Hull City confirmed that midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath was involved in a road‑traffic collision on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham, close to the club’s training ground, on Thursday morning. Photographs show a black Mercedes on its side, and police said no one was injured.
Details of the crash
Humberside Police reported that officers and emergency services were called to a single‑vehicle collision on Millhouse Woods Lane at around 8.30am on Thursday, 1 October 2026. The incident is the second crash involving a Hull player on this narrow residential street in three weeks. The vehicle, identified as a Mercedes, rolled onto its side but, according to the police, no one sustained injuries.
Club and community reaction
Hull City issued a brief statement confirming it was aware of images circulating on social media and that no one was harmed in the incident. Local councillor Phil Redshaw said he had written to the club on Sunday, urging staff to drive with greater care when approaching the training ground.
Redshaw added on Facebook that he had asked the club to remind players to exercise more caution, highlighting concerns for road safety in the area surrounding the training facilities.
The earlier crash involved midfielder Sorba Thomas, whose Land Rover overturned onto its roof on 11 September along the same lane. Police noted that Thomas escaped without injury, mirroring the outcome of the recent incident.
Hull’s form and upcoming match
On the pitch, Hull have played strongly since their return to the Premier League, currently sitting eighth after amassing eight points from five matches. Victories came against Manchester United and Ipswich, while draws were secured against Aston Villa and Chelsea; a 2‑1 defeat at Newcastle was their sole loss before the international break.
Hull are due to return to action against Everton on 11 October, offering an opportunity to extend their early‑season momentum.
