Hugo Ekitike moves towards his return after six months out

Six months after rupturing his right Achilles tendon against PSG, Hugo Ekitike, Liverpool striker, is beginning to see the end of his ordeal, while aiming for a determined return to the pitch in the coming weeks, soon.

The injury occurred on 14 April, when he ruptured his right Achilles tendon. Since then, the Liverpool striker has continued his recovery with the goal of stepping onto the grass again in the coming weeks.

Very close to the French national team squad before this accident, the former Parisian remains hopeful of returning before the end of the year. He thus hopes to be able to claim a place in the national team as soon as competitions resume.

Since his operation, Hugo Ekitike has gone through multiple stages of his recovery. At the end of August, the 24‑year‑old player kicked off a match in Reims, his training club.

In September, he continued his recovery at Clairefontaine before returning to Liverpool to continue treatment. This stint allowed him to combine medical monitoring with tailored training.

In recent days, Ekitike traveled to the United States to see a specialist, according to L’Équipe. This new step confirms that he is still on schedule, the player having even started jogging, an encouraging sign.

An Achilles tendon injury requires caution, with timelines varying according to the player's sensations. For now, he plans to resume training in November and target competition in December, the sports daily reveals.
