HSV’s Lemke shatters Seeler‑Rekord as youngest Torschütze
In the early afternoon at SC Verl’s modest stadium, 16‑year‑old Louis Lemke surged forward and tucked home the third goal of Hamburg’s 3‑0 cup Spiel, becoming the youngest ever Torschütze in HSV Geschichte and ending the Seeler‑Rekord that stood for 72 Jahren.
Nach 72 Jahren, Lemke was 16 years, 10 months and 16 days old when he netted the third goal in that Jahr, surpassing Uwe Seeler who was 17 years, 9 months and 10 days old when he scored in the 1954 cup tie against Trier. The record had stood for 72 Jahre.
The Tor came after a precise pass from Nicolai Remberg, with Lemke cutting in from the left flank and firing a low, flat shot into the far corner. He remained on the pitch until the 75th minute of the 3‑0 win.
Der HSV head coach Merlin Polzin praised the teenager, saying, “He is a hard‑working player and despite his age has great joy for football.” The comment highlighted Lemke’s maturity on the field.
Lemke made his Bundesliga debut in the previous season, appearing on matchday 33 in the away fixture against Freiburg at the age of 16 years, 7 months and 2 days in the Bundesliga Liga. That appearance also made him the youngest professional to be used by HSV, earning the title HSV‑Torschütze.
Transfermarkt lists Lemke’s Marktwert at €300 000 as a left‑back (SV).
