HSV chase below‑€8m Moffi deal this summer to boost attack
Hamburger SV and OGC Nice have reached an agreement for the transfer of 27‑year‑old Nigerian forward Terem Moffi, with the fee undisclosed but expected to be below his €8 million market value. The deal is pending final medical clearance.
Why HSV target Moffi
HSV see Moffi as a plan‑type striker who fits the physically strong profile sought by head coach Merlin Polzin. The club, already preparing for its seventh summer signing including Albert Grønbaek, hopes the addition will solidify its attacking options.
Moffi’s market value is listed at €8 million. In his spell at Nice he recorded 72 league appearances, scoring 24 goals and providing five assists. A loan to FC Porto yielded three goals from 15 matches, demonstrating his ability to adapt across leagues.
Nice’s turmoil and price
Under contract with Nice until 2027, Moffi has been relegated to training with the second team after a strained relationship with the club following a fan‑related incident in November 2025. Legal steps involving the LFP’s arbitration panel failed to dissolve his contract, leaving a transfer as the only viable exit.
According to L’Équipe, Nice accepted Hamburg’s offer, though the amount was not disclosed. The Hamburger Abendblatt suggests the sum is significantly below Moffi’s current market value, implying a fee under €8 million.
For HSV, the signing provides a long‑term attacking solution and eases the squad’s physical demands. For Nice, the move could reduce a high wage bill and resolve ongoing tensions with the player.
