Hartman's Instagram exit marks a pause after a turbulent season

Former Feyenoord defender Quilindschy Hartman announced on his Instagram story that he will temporarily deactivate his Instagram-pagina, a move that caps a turbulent year in which he struggled for playing time and faced online criticism after a season split between Burnley and a loan at Espanyol, with limited minutes on the pitch.

In his final Instagram story, Hartman wrote that his account had been managed by someone else for months because his interest in social media had waned. He added, “The last months my Instagram was already managed by someone else, because I myself had less need for social media. There is nothing else wrong, but for now I choose to deactivate my account and just take a complete break,” posting the message as his provisional last post on Instagram.

The 24‑year‑old moved from Feyenoord to English side Burnley last summer, initially earning regular minutes. However, his role quickly diminished and he found himself on the bench.

During the winter of the previous season, Hartman was linked with a possible transfer to Ajax, which sparked hateful messages from Feyenoord supporters. He later clarified that a move to Amsterdam was never concrete.

Burnley sent him on loan to Spanish club Espanyol for the current season, where he has yet to make his competitive debut. In the first two La Liga fixtures for Espanyol, Hartman spent the full ninety minutes on the bench.
