Harry Kane says this is his best chance to win the Ballon d'Or

England striker Harry Kane said on Friday that the current phase of his career is probably his best opportunity to win the Ballon d'Or. He made the comments in a press conference ahead of England’s UEFA Nations League (Liga das Nações da Uefa) clash with Spain (Espanha) at Wembley on Saturday.

Last season's achievements

Harry Kane highlighted that last year was his most successful personally and collectively. He lifted the German Championship and the German Cup with Bayern Munich, and finished as Europe’s top scorer with 36 goals. “I spoke openly about how last year was my best year, both personally and from the team’s point of view, in terms of trophies and performances,” he said.

Kane stressed that the upcoming match is his “best opportunity” to add the Ballon d'Or (Bola) to his résumé. “Now it is my best opportunity. Whether it will also be in the future, we will have to wait to see,” he added, before turning his focus to helping England win tomorrow.

England’s identity versus Spanish style

He noted that Spain (Espanha) plays a style rooted in their culture, growing up with that approach. In contrast, England does not replicate the same style, but possesses players with physicality, rhythm and power that Spain lack. “We have many players with technique and virtues they do not have: physical, rhythm and power,” Kane asserted.

Kane warned that the decision and opinion on the Ballon d'Or now rest with others. “I achieved great things last year, of which I am proud. Now the decision and the opinion depend on others,” he said, emphasizing the need for collective success.

If England defeat what Kane described as “the best team in the world at the moment”, confidence will rise for the remainder of the Nations League and for Euro 2028. “If we win, our confidence will increase a lot for the rest of the League and for the Euro 2028,” he concluded.
