Harry Kane leans towards Bayern as Man Utd hopes linger

Harry Kane, the 33‑year‑old Bayern Munich striker, has signalled his decision to stay in Germany despite ongoing speculation about a move to Man Utd, with the 2026 Ballon d’Or still within his reach. He remains focused on Bayern's campaign, while Manchester United continue to monitor his status.

Contract talks at Bayern

Kane's current contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of the current campaign, and negotiations for an extension are under way. Reports in Germany indicate he is seeking a release clause in any new deal, a provision that could ease a future return to England.

Release clause and England link

The proposed clause could run until 2029, potentially opening the door for a Premier League stint before retirement. When he left Tottenham for Bayern three summers ago, he was 47 goals shy of Alan Shearer in the Premier League’s all‑time scorers chart.

Kane recently became the fastest player to reach 100 Bundesliga goals, achieving the milestone in just 98 appearances. He has amassed 152 goals in 154 matches for Bayern Munich, underscoring his prolific form.

Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke said: “It seems that there’s no current indication that Kane is seeking a move away. He seems happy at Bayern Munich as well. They offer him everything that he needs right now. I think there’s a willingness from all parties to get a new deal agreed, and I’m sure that’ll be something that the club will be hoping to sort out pretty soon.”

Kane himself stated: “Let’s continue like this. I’m extremely happy here. The talks are ongoing. I really appreciate the support the fans are showing me here.”

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, co‑owner of Manchester United, is keen to bring the best English footballer to Old Trafford. The Red Devils still need to bolster their attack, left‑back and centre‑back positions after a costly summer.

The MAN UTD board hopes the release clause could eventually facilitate a move, but for now the striker appears committed to Bayern Munich, with no immediate transfer to United on the horizon.
