Harry Kane and Bayern Munich Talks: Extension Negotiations Begin
Harry Kane’s contract extension talks have officially begun at Bayern Munich, with board member for sport Max Eberl confirming the negotiations as the England striker’s current deal expires at the end of the season. The 33‑year‑old, who arrived from Tottenham Hotspur in summer 2023, is set to discuss terms either this week or next, according to his own statements.
Why Bayern Munich Want Kane
Bayern Munich pursued Kane because he has been the Bundesliga’s top scorer in each of his three seasons since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023. His goal‑scoring consistency helped the club secure two league championships and a DFB Cup during that period. The striker’s ability to perform in high‑stakes games also contributed to two Franz Beckenbauer Supercup victories.
Kane has recorded 98 Bundesliga goals in 94 appearances for Bayern. In the UEFA Champions League he has added 33 goals from 38 matches. He also netted 11 times in eight DFB Cup games.
Board member for sport Max Eberl confirmed to media that talks have begun, echoing the striker’s own comment that negotiations will start either this week or next. Kane said, “now is the right time,” and added that “both parties are relaxed about it.” The headline question “Will Harry Kane stay at Bayern Munich beyond this season?” reflects the uncertainty surrounding his contract, which expires at season’s end.
If an extension is agreed, Bayern will retain the league’s most prolific English forward for another season. For Kane, staying would allow him to continue building on his record of 98 goals in under 100 Bundesliga games.
