Hansi Flick must expect Christensen's possible two-month absence
FC Barcelona will have to do without centre‑back Andreas Christensen for several weeks, which puts coach Hansi Flick in a significant problem. The Danish player injured the straight thigh muscle of his left leg in the match against Sevilla and is expected to be out for up to two months.
Forecast and possible consequences
The club did not give an exact return date, but current information from Spain suggests that the break could even last two months. According to “”, the initial estimates were four to six weeks, but those close to the player fear an absence of around two months.
Christensen, 30, has started the season well so far: He has featured in six matches, started four times and logged a total of 402 minutes. With a two‑month break he could miss about eight games, including the El Clásico and the clash against Paris Saint‑Germain.
Flick can still rely on Pau Cubarsí and Gerard Martín; moreover, Eric García and Jules Koundé are available. The problem remains, however, that a longer absence of Christensen will severely limit rotation options in a period with a very tight schedule.
