Hannover fans’ tifo theft adds fresh pressure to Braunschweig derby

The upcoming Lower Saxony derby between Eintracht Braunschweig and Hannover 96 now carries extra pressure, as both clubs sit deep in the 2. Bundesliga relegation zone this season and a pre‑match tifo theft has inflamed the rivalry before the first whistle.
Fans' tifo heist sparks outrage
A few days ago Hannover 96 supporters entered the hall where Braunschweig fans were assembling their derby tifo. They allegedly removed enough material that the display could not be completed, leaving the Braunschweig ultras to abandon their plans.
The upset prompted the Braunschweig ultras to leave a notice on the stadium seats before kick‑off. The note reads, “A large part of the tifo is no longer in our hands, which would have made putting it on simply impossible. Sometimes you're the dog, sometimes you're the tree – in this case, we're very clearly the ones getting pissed on.”
In response, the Blue and Yellows – Hannover 96 – announced they would “definitely learn our lessons from this whole affair”. Their comment acknowledges the incident while hinting at a possible on‑field retaliation.
With the derby’s emotional weight already high, observers will watch whether Hannover’s supporters mount a visual response in the stands today or whether the teams settle the score on the pitch.
