Hamsik hints at Napoli return while praising Allegri and Lobotka

Former Slovakia captain Marek Hamsik told Radio Punto Nuovo that he is in contact with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis about a possible return to SSC Napoli, while he praised Max Allegri and Milan Lobotka’s recent goal that secured three points.

Bond with Napoli and career choices

Stampa A− A+ Ultime notizie SSC Napoli reported that Hamsik received the Premio Artis Suavitas 2026 and immediately went on the microphones of Radio Punto Nuovo to reflect on his indissoluble link with the city.

He stressed that “the choice to bind myself to Napoli forever was natural”, adding that it took several years to build the strength of that relationship and that after three or four years he was sure he would wear the shirt for a long time.

Hamsik recalled the “no” he has given to other Italian and foreign clubs, saying “I have various tattoos that I carry with me as a reminder of Napoli, for what we have achieved. It is the minimum I could do for Napoli.”

Addressing the current squad, he delivered a clear message: “To the boys who wear this shirt today, always respect teammates, opponents and supporters, whether things go badly or well. I have always been the one who took both whistles and applause in any situation because I gave everything for this shirt.”

Looking ahead to a possible return

Commenting on the recent victory over Bologna, Hamsik said, “The Napoli of Max Allegri and Lobotka’s goal yesterday made me very happy. Lobotka also made a few more runs, got closer to the goal and, with a fine assist from Favasuli, we secured three points.”

He admitted that he had turned down Allegri twice in the past, but added, “I have great respect for him – a strong manager with a lot of grit and experience.”

When asked about a future at the club, Hamsik smiled and replied, “A future together with Napoli? It is not impossible, never say never. I am in contact with the president, we have already spoken about a possible relationship, but right now it is not the easiest period for me: I am in Slovakia, I work with children and that is what I want to do. Maybe the ‘27… the year 27 will be the right time, the number 27 has a special meaning for me!”

In a quoted moment he added, “Lo storico numero 17” and later reflected, “Il Napoli will always be part of my heart.”
