Haaland calls for unity while Maresca trusts City's innocence

Erling Haaland has called on Manchester City supporters to support each other after the club was found guilty by an independent commission of almost all charges of breaching the Premier League's financial rules. The Norwegian striker emphasized that the upcoming match against Liverpool should be a “great day” for the fans.

Full squad back on the training pitch

For the first time since the ruling, the Premier League leaders were on the training pitch in Manchester on Thursday with the full squad. The decision follows the return of all internationals after the international break.

Coach Enzo Maresca addressed the players about the current situation, according to the BBC. He urged not to let the unrest off the pitch enter the dressing room and to keep the focus on the upcoming matches.

Players and staff remain positive

In an interview, Haaland confirmed that the past weeks were “by no means the easiest”, but that the team must continue to support each other and stay positive. He added: “Whatever happens in life, we must always keep laughing. I care a lot about this club, the city and the supporters.”

Maastricht emphasized that the mood in the squad is “excellent”. He said the players are looking forward to the upcoming matches, especially because they are top of the league, and that they are focusing solely on football.

According to Maresca, the club has maintained its innocence from the start and has appealed the independent commission’s ruling. He stated: “We have full confidence in the club. We understand there is a lot to deal with, but we only focus on what we can control, and that is only football.”

The club still has to consider possible severe sanctions, but it maintains its confidence in its own strength as it prepares for the match against Liverpool on Sunday.
