Groningen’s bold loan for Zweed winger Jacob Ondrejka
FC Groningen have announced the arrival of Zweed international Jacob Ondrejka on a one‑season loan from Italian club Parma, which purchased the 23‑year‑old for €7 million from Belgian Royal Antwerp FC one and a half years ago.
De Zweed Jacob Ondrejka featured in 28 Serie matches, scoring five goals, and spent four seasons under contract at IF Elfsborg after developing in the youth set‑up of Landskrona in his native Sweden. His performances earned a move to Royal Antwerp, and the Belgian side later sold him to the Italiaanse Parma for the €7 million fee.
Ondrejka told the club channels that he looks forward to his new adventure, noting his previous teammate Tjaronn Chery helped him pick up some Dutch. He added that conversations with Hjalmar Ekdal left a positive impression of the city and the club.
He explained his aim at Groningen: “The information I have received is that FC Groningen is a family club where I can get the right confidence to do what I normally do – score, dribble and provide assists.” The Zweeds hopes to become valuable for the team quickly in the Eredivisie.
