Granit Xhaka releases statement As Swiss probe deepens

Premier League midfielder Granit Xhaka, 33, broke his silence on Monday morning with a personal statement after Swiss media reported he could face up to five years in prison. If convicted of forging documents under Article 251 of the German Criminal Code, Xhaka could receive a jail term of up to five years or a hefty fine. Swiss law mirrors this risk under Section 253 of the Swiss Criminal Code for obtaining a false certification. Both statutes carry the same maximum imprisonment.
