In an interview with ITV Gordon stated that he thought the match was great to play and watch. “Some attacks were truly of the highest level,” he said, but he added that the mistakes took away their chances. According to him it felt more like they had ‘given away’ the match than that Spain had won.

Harry Kane missed a penalty in the second half, a rare error for the English star. Gordon responded: “I think we would have won, if he had taken it.” He emphasized that Kane normally does not miss and that they forgive him for this mistake.
