Despite the proximity, the two sides could not reach a final accord, and the deal was abandoned. Both parties issued no further comment.

This cancellation marks PSV's third outgoing transfer to fall through this summer. Earlier, moves for Adamo Nagalo and Armando Obispo also collapsed.
