Giannini sees Mora as Roma’s future ‘10’ amid youth project

Former Roma captain Giuseppe Giannini praised the recent signing of Rodrigo Mora, calling him a "number ‘10’" talent and insisting the young playmaker will become a great figure for the club as it embraces a project built on fantasy and youth.

Giannini highlighted Mora’s technical ability, speed and a high‑school level touch, noting that many observers already compare him to a new Kakà.

He recalled that Mora progressed through the Porto youth system, "burning through the stages as a predestined talent," and warned that the pressure and heat at Roma are intense, but the club and coach will manage his integration.

"Vedo tanta bellezza in questa Roma, fantasia e qualità soprattutto in attacco," Giannini said, adding that the club’s heavy investment in young players is a crucial factor.

Tactical flexibility with Mora

Giannini explained that the number 10 shirt carries weight, but Mora will also benefit from playing alongside Dybala, who can give him a "blessing" and together they could form a high‑level partnership.

He outlined several possible formations – a 3‑4‑2‑1, a 3‑4‑1‑2 with Mora replacing Dybala, or a more attacking 4‑2‑3‑1 featuring Dybala, Mora and Castro behind Malen – showing the range of solutions for the coach.

According to Giannini, La Roma is preparing to have two players for each position, both for Serie A and the Champions League, though she believes a midfield or defensive profile is still missing.

He expressed admiration for Castro, saying "Castro mi piace moltissimo," and praised Molina for the international experience and drive he will bring on the flank.

Giannini noted that the club’s average age has dropped, with twelve players under 25, and stressed that the more experienced squad members must help the youngsters develop quickly.

When asked which top player might be sold by the end of August, Giannini suggested Koné, describing him as the only one with market potential at certain levels.
