German superstar in focus: Bayern eyeing Wirtz as an option

German superstar Florian Wirtz is already on Bayern Munich’s radar, should Michael Olise not sign a new contract. The club currently does not plan to part ways with Olise, but an alternative for the future is being discussed, with Wirtz considered as a possible option.

Olise has a contract with Bayern Munich until 2029. Chairman Jan‑Christian Dreesen emphasized at the end of August that there are currently no talks about a contract extension, because there is no reason to rush. The club still sees the 24‑year‑old as one of its key players.

Alternative in Focus

According to German journalist Christian Falk, Bayern could revisit the topic of Florian Wirtz, a star of the German national team, should Olise’s future be in doubt. “If Olise does not sign a new contract and had to be sold, Wirtz would be one of the first options Bayern would look at,” Falk explained.

Currently, however, there are no talks about a transfer of Wirtz. Falk stresses that a move in the winter is practically ruled out because of the high price and Liverpool’s lack of willingness to sell.

Wirtz remains a regular starter at FC Liverpool under manager Andoni Iraola. The 23‑year‑old has not yet reached the numbers he was accustomed to during his time at Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern sees Olise as a key player and does not plan to sell him in the upcoming transfer window.
