German fans praise Youri Regeer for explosive debut against RB Leipzig
On a cold Saturday evening at the Weserstadion, the German crowd saw a young Dutchman shine: 23‑year‑old Youri Regeer, loaned from Ajax, started immediately in the starting eleven for Werder Bremen against RB Leipzig and delivered an energetic debut that immediately earned praise.
Almost a goal against the Leipzig goalkeeper
In the first half Regeer saw Leipzig goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt far out in front of his goal and tried to surprise from distance. The ball hit the post, after which Leipzig wrote on X: “A brief moment of shock”. The action set the German spectators alight.
Fans and duel statistics praise the debutant
Various followers praised Regeer on X: “Regeer almost with a magical surprise. He is wide awake. Lovely!” and “If Regeer maintains this level, my heaven.” His duel strength was also highlighted: “Strong in the duels. Regeer and Deman are so far the best on the pitch.”
Werder Bremen enjoyed an excellent afternoon. Eren Dinkçi opened the scoring after four minutes, after which Niclas Füllkrug and Marco Grüll widened the margin after the break. Ridle Baku made the final score 3‑1 in injury time.
Regeer was taken off the field in the 83rd minute amid loud applause. After the match, compliments poured in, including: “What an energetic performance was that? Regeer with a strong debut.”
The Bundesliga club has loaned Regeer from Ajax for the rest of the season for a loan fee of €200,000, according to Transfermarkt. This gives the 23‑year‑old Dutchman the chance to prove himself.
Previously Regeer played for FC Twente and returned to Ajax in January 2025. He later stated: “When I went back to Ajax, it no longer felt like the right place for me.”
In Germany he wants to make a fresh start: “I want to show here what I can do in the Bundesliga and demonstrate what kind of player Youri Regeer is.” His energetic performance suggests that the fans are right.
