German club considers million bid for Priske amid crisis
Brian Priske is on the wish list of the German club Borussia Mönchengladbach, reports Farzam Abolhosseini of the Danish Tipsbladet. The former Feyenoord‑coach is currently in charge of Sparta Prague, where he must replace the recently dismissed manager. After an uneven season in the Czech top division, he is now seen as a potential saviour.
Borussia Mönchengladbach in crisis
At Borussia Mönchengladbach, alarm phase one has been reached; the team shares the last place with Hamburger SV and has not yet earned a point. After defeats to RB Leipzig (3‑0), SV Elversberg (3‑4) and Freiburg (5‑0), coach Eugen Polanski was dismissed.
The Germans are considering in the coming days to make a multi‑million bid to release Priske from the number nine of the Czech First League. At Borussia Mönchengladbach, they want to appoint the Danish assistant‑coach as the new head coach.
In eight matches, Sparta Prague earned only twelve points, with four wins and four defeats. The results show that Priske’s current team has not started particularly well.
Brian Priske has previously worked at Midtjylland and Royal Antwerp and is now in his second spell at Sparta Prague. In the 2024/25 season he was under contract at Feyenoord, where he was dismissed early, but his biggest success was the Champions‑League‑campaign with victories over Bayern Munich (3‑0) and the elimination of AC Milan (2‑1).
The contrast between the dramatic downward spiral of the German club and the modest results of Priske’s current side underscores the urgency with which Borussia Mönchengladbach is seeking an experienced manager. A possible move could give Priske’s career a new chapter as well as provide the club with a fresh impetus.
