Genesio confronts OM board after PSG loss, sparks locker‑room shake‑up

After a 1‑2 defeat to Paris Saint‑Germain before the international break, Olympique de Marseille manager Bruno Genesio demanded an urgent meeting with the club’s directors. The loss sparked a fierce internal reaction, with the coach reportedly raising his voice despite his normally calm image.

Grégory Lorenzi, the club’s sporting director, said Genesio is not always as calm as his reputation suggests. Genesio a fait passer ses messages à l’OM Dans L’Équipe and used the post‑match period to address several players.

Genesio summons board

Following the 1‑2 loss to PSG before the international break, Bruno Genesio asked for an urgent meeting with Olympique de Marseille’s directors. He wanted to review the first weeks of the competition and analyse the early matches, Lorenzi said.

During that session Genesio delivered multiple messages to his squad. Lorenzi confirmed that the coach can also step in when he believes a player needs to be reprimanded. Ça nous a interpellés”, he recalled.

Issues identified and plan

The meeting highlighted two main problems. First, Marseille creates many chances but concedes too many during transitions, often because of a high defensive block.

Second, the side sometimes lacks rhythm over the course of a match, fading after about an hour.

Lorenzi warned that financial constraints and squad depth prevent a wholesale overhaul.

Genesio and the board have now set clear axes for progression, but only time will tell whether the internal messages translate into better results on the pitch.
