On Thursday afternoon at the Lazio training ground, Italian manager Gennaro Gattuso sent Dutch midfielder Kenneth Taylor off after a heated spat, but by Saturday the two had made peace, with Taylor later appearing off the bench to score in a 6‑3 friendly win over Avellino. It was a striking sight on Thursday's training when Taylor was dismissed after a spat with his coach Gattuso. The incident saw the Nederlandse midfielder leave the pitch, underscoring the intensity of the moment.

Taylor's representative said the midfielder and the former Italy national team coach smoked a peace pipe after the session. De quick resolution signalled that both parties were eager to move forward.

Saturday morning SS Lazio faced Avellino in a practice match. Taylor began on the bench and entered the game after 69 minutes, alongside Danilho Doekhi and Tijjani Noslin.

Taylor netted the final goal in injury time, sealing a 6‑3 victory for Lazio. The goal marked his contribution after the earlier dispute.

After the match, Gattuso was asked about the spat. He replied to Corriere dello Sport: “Who knows me knows how I think and what my style is. For me it is over after thirty minutes, and you saw that this afternoon. We must keep that mentality here.”

He added: “We are happy, because we have not lost players with serious injuries, we have caused as little damage as possible, and that is an advantage.”
