Gasperini says Inter could be his kryptonite, forse he isn’t alone

Gian Piero Gasperini, Roma’s head coach, admitted that Inter could be his kryptonite – ‘forse’ – but insisted he is not the only one to find the Milan club a benchmark, as he prepares his side for tomorrow’s clash at the Olimpico.

Inter as benchmark

Choosing as the preferred source on Google, Gasperini framed the upcoming clash as a ‘title‑challenge of the highest technical level’. He declared himself ready and eager to compete on equal terms with Inter, adding that the ambition drives his preparation.

Inter, according to the Roma boss, is the reference club for the league and beyond. The Milan side has reached two finals in recent times, performs strongly in Italy and Europe, and is recognised by everyone as a benchmark for other teams.

Gasperini warned that it will take twenty matchdays to see whether Roma can still fight for the scudetto. He stressed that Inter’s results are ‘eclatant’, pointing to their points tally and victories as objective proof of superiority. He noted that Napoli has only sporadically challenged that dominance.

Roma’s squad and match details

The coach reminded that he has lost the last ten head‑to‑head meetings with Inter. He attributed the pattern to tactical factors and the change of Inter managers from Conte to Inzaghi to Chivu, which has not altered the outcome.

On the squad front, Gasperini said he is crossing his fingers for the fitness of Koné, Ndicka and Wesley, all expected to be available for tomorrow. He added that Pellegrini, who arrived two weeks ago, is fully fit and ready to contribute, while young Lulli may be introduced early to gain experience.

Gasp also discussed the tactical importance of the right flank, suggesting that both Molina and Wesley can operate on either side despite being right‑footed. He concluded with a nod to referee Massimo Massa, insisting that ‘Massa will be perfect tomorrow’ after recent controversy.

With the final adjustments underway, Gasperini expressed confidence that the team’s preparation will overcome any small issues and that Roma will be ready to test Inter’s supremacy at the Olimpico.
