Gasperini admits Lautaro's brace rescues Inter at Stadio Olimpico

Roma and Inter, the Nerazzurri, drew 2‑2 at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday, with Inter captain Lautaro Martínez netting both goals to erase a 2‑0 half‑time deficit. The result ended both clubs’ perfect starts to the Serie A season.

Roma entered the break with a commanding lead after Manu Kone struck twice in the first half, giving the home side a two‑goal cushion.

Early second‑half strike

Lautaro Martínez opened Inter’s comeback just 51 seconds after the restart, reducing the arrears and shifting momentum.

He completed his brace with an equaliser eleven minutes from the end of normal time. Inter came close again when Alessandro Bastoni rattled the woodwork and Marcus Thuram’s back‑heel drifted narrowly wide.

Gasperini lauds Lautaro and looks ahead

Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini embraced Martínez after the final whistle and joked that the Argentine “always seems to score against him”. He later told reporters that Lautaro “scores against everyone” and described him as an incredible forward.

According to the same report, Martínez has faced Gasperini‑coached sides 17 times, winning 12, drawing five and scoring 11 goals. His tally at the Stadio Olimpico now stands at seven league goals – four against Lazio and three against Roma.

Gasperini insisted the contest was played on level terms and said the performance should give Roma confidence. The club remain unbeaten in their opening five league matches for the first time since 2014‑15 and have scored at least twice in ten consecutive Serie A fixtures.
