Galatasaray's £43m bid fuels saga, Fernandes and Rashford in focus
Galatasaray have tabled a £43 million bid for Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes, while Barcelona remain in contact over a possible permanent transfer for Man Utd forward Marcus Rashford after his loan spell. The offers arrive as United prepare for their Premier League opener against Hull City.
Galatasaray's £43m bid aims to secure Fernandes
The Telegraph claimed Galatasaray are ready to double Fernandes’ wages and offer £43 million for the Portuguese playmaker’s services. Football earlier described the Portuguese playmaker as a dream signing for the Turkish side.
Manchester United have made clear they will swiftly reject any such approach, describing the captain as untouchable after his £55.6 million release clause expired in July. Fernandes’ current contract expires in 2027, with an option to extend a further year.
Barcelona’s lingering interest in Rashford
Barcelona have not exercised the £26 million option to sign Rashford permanently, instead adding Anthony Gordon for £70 million and Karim Adeyemi for an undisclosed fee, yet they remain in contact with his representatives. Despite making a series of attacking signings, Barcelona continue to assess their options regarding Rashford.
Rashford, the 28‑year‑old who scored 14 goals in La Liga, spent the previous season on loan at Barcelona, where he featured regularly in La Liga. He returned to United training on August 9 after starring for England at the World Cup and featured in the 4‑2 loss to AC Milan.
Manchester United boss Michael Carrick’s pre‑season under his first campaign shows a record of two wins, two defeats and two draws, with the final friendly a 4‑2 defeat to AC Milan in Poland. The final friendly, staged in Poland, was against AC Milan and former manager Ruben Amorim. The pre‑season photo was credited to Getty.
Carrick's squad has been reinforced by three senior signings: Andrey Santos arrived from Chelsea for £50 million, Karl Darlow joined after his Leeds United contract expired, and Youri Tielemans was secured from Aston Villa for £35 million. Over the summer window, three senior additions have been made.

Looking ahead, Man Utd will travel to Hull City in their Premier League opener, and the club appears set to retain Fernandes while Rashford’s future likely remains at Old Trafford. With less than two weeks remaining in the transfer window, speculation around both players remains intense.
