Frosinone's win puts pressure on Genoa as Serie A Jornada four unfolds

Frosinone secured a 1-0 triumph over Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Serie A Jornada four, keeping their early-season momentum and leaving the hosts still winless and under pressure to find points.

Early breakthrough decides the match

Fourteen minutes in, Kvernadze materialised a chance for Frosinone, slotting the ball past the keeper to give the visitors a 0-1 lead. The goal marked the first strike of the encounter and put Frosinone on course for their second win of the campaign.

At the 44th minute, a VAR decision (Decisión del VAR) awarded a penalty to Baldanzi of Genoa. The referee pointed to the spot, and the home side prepared to take what could have been a decisive conversion.

One minute later, Colombo's attempt from the spot (El intento de Colombo) struck the post, denying Genoa an equaliser and leaving the penalty unanswered. The miss preserved Frosinone's lead as the match entered its final stages.

Late drama fails to change the outcome

Earlier, a serious foul in a dangerous area saw referee Rapuano award a penalty to Frosinone, highlighting the intensity of the contest. The decision (Decisión) underscored the physical nature of the game.

An aerial duel between Østigård and Masini was resolved when Baldanzi unleashed a powerful shot from outside the area, only for the opposing goalkeeper to parry the effort. Both Østigård and Masini featured prominently in the battle for supremacy in the air.

Throughout the second half, Genoa’s Djibril Sow recovered possession, while Masini and Frendrup made crucial interceptions for their respective sides. The midfield saw frequent turnovers, with both teams striving to control the tempo.

The Stadio Luigi Ferraris offered clear skies and a temperature of 27.1 °C, providing ideal conditions for a high‑tempo encounter. Both squads entered the match with contrasting form: Frosinone arrived with two victories, whereas Genoa had yet to earn a point.

Looking ahead, Frosinone will aim to extend their winning run and climb the Serie A table, while Genoa must regroup quickly to avoid a prolonged winless streak and ease the pressure on their coaching staff.
