From record highs to a new chapter: Brighton Women lose key coach

Assistant head coach Chris Roberts has left Brighton Women, ending his two‑year spell after arriving from Everton in 2024, as the Seagulls celebrated a record fifth‑place finish in the Women's Super League and a maiden Women's FA Cup final at Wembley.

Roberts joined Brighton from Everton in 2024. He quickly became a key pillar of the technical staff, overseeing training sessions and match preparation for the Women’s squad throughout his two‑year stay.

"Everyone from the players to the staff has been exceptional," Roberts said, adding that working with head coach Dario Vidosic had been a privilege because "he is without doubt one of the most talented football managers in the game."

Roberts also thanked the supporters, stating, "I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the fans for their support throughout my time at the club, especially during my interim period." He said he was excited to see what's next for the club.

Head coach Dario Vidosic praised Roberts, noting, "Chris has been a key pillar of the technical staff for the last two years. From a professional standpoint, he drove elite standards every day at the club." Vidosic added that Roberts had been supportive since he joined the club from Melbourne City.

Roberts' departure marks the end of a period in which Brighton Women reached new heights, culminating in that historic league finish and the Wembley final appearance. The club's achievements under his tenure set a benchmark for future seasons.
