From Inter’s elite to Como’s ambition: Wullaert’s bold Serie A switch

Thirty‑three‑year‑old Red Flame Tessa Wullaert leaves Italy’s top‑flight giant Internazionale to join newly promoted Serie A side Como 1907 for the coming season, a move that pits a club accustomed to Champions League contention against a team still finding its footing in Italy’s elite league.

Wullaert spent the previous two seasons wearing the Inter shirt, competing in Italy’s premier competition. During that spell she added experience at a club regularly involved in European campaigns.

Como 1907, meanwhile, secured promotion to Serie A this summer, entering the top division as a newcomer. The club will share the league with Inter but lacks the historical pedigree of the Milanese side.

The contrast is stark: Inter is recognised as a top club, while Como is described as ‘just’ a promoted side. Nevertheless, Como is described as hyper‑ambitious, aiming far beyond survival.

“We want to reach the Champions League within three seasons,” Wullaert said. Her statement underscores the club’s long‑term target despite its recent ascent.

Wullaert’s switch from a European heavyweight to a fledgling Serie A outfit highlights both her personal ambition and Como’s desire to accelerate its rise in Italian football. The upcoming season will test whether the former Red Flame can translate her experience into the club’s stated Champions League goal.
