From Bundesliga defender to Antwerp boss: Compper's new chapter

Marvin Compper will serve as cheftrainer at Royal Antwerpen, a Belgian Erstligisten that announced the appointment on its website. The club described the move as the next station in Compper's coaching journey.
The contract runs for two years, and the 41 Jahre alte Fußball‑Lehrer will replace the previous coach after a season of mixed results. The deal was confirmed by the club in a statement.
Before arriving in Belgium, Compper worked as co‑trainer at FC St. Gallen in the Swiss top division, gaining experience as an assistant before taking a head‑coach role.
During his playing days Compper featured in the Bundesliga for Borussia Mönchengladbach, TSG Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig, securing a Platz in the Geschichtsbüchern of Hoffenheim as a former Innenverteidiger.
On 19 November 2008 he earned his sole cap for the DFB‑Elf in a 1:2 defeat to England, becoming the first Hoffenheim Nationalspieler to appear for Germany.
Compper ended his active career in 2020 with MSV Duisburg in the 3. Liga, then began his coaching path as an assistant with the Zebras, the nickname for TSG Hoffenheim.
His appointment marks a new chapter for the former Bundesliga‑Profi, bringing his experience as a player and coach to the Belgian capital.
