Free transfer boost: PSV lure Serbian left‑back Kostic back to Eredivisie

A €6 million fee from fourteen years ago underscores PSV Eindhoven’s signing of 33‑year‑old left‑back Filip Kostic, who joins the Dutch champions on a free transfer from Juventus on a two‑year deal, pending a work permit.

Kostic left Juventus after his contract expired last season and had several options, including interest from AEK, but chose the offer from PSV.

The move marks his return to Dutch football; FC Groningen originally recruited him fourteen years ago from FK Radnicki 1923 before selling him for €6 million to VfB Stuttgart.

After his time in the Netherlands, Kostic went on to represent Hamburger SV, Eintracht Frankfurt, Juventus and Fenerbahçe, with the Turkish top club having taken him on loan from Juventus two years ago.

In Turin his opportunities were limited last season, making only eighteen Serie A appearances, of which four were starts under manager Luciano Spalletti.

PSV adds Kostic as reinforcement for the left flank, joining Mauro Júnior as the only regular left‑back under Peter Bosz, while Yarek Gasiorowski and Noah Fernandez also cover the position.
