Free transfer adds 57-goal scorer Noonan to Watford's attack

Watford confirmed the deal on their official website, with the Golden Girls posting the announcement earlier today. The club described the acquisition as a free transfer, meaning no fee was required to secure Noonan’s services.

The 27‑year‑old forward leaves Celtic after two seasons, having seen her contract with the Glasgow giants run out this summer. Her departure follows the expiry of the agreement that tied her to the Scottish side.

During her two‑year spell at Celtic, Noonan recorded 57 goals in 74 matches for the Ghirls, finishing as the club’s top scorer in consecutive campaigns. She also notched five hat‑tricks across those seasons, highlighting her finishing prowess.

Noonan helped Celtic capture the Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup last season and gained experience in the UEFA Women’s Champions League while playing north of the border.

Before moving to Scotland, she began her senior career with Cork City in the SSE Airtricity League Women’s Premier Division, later enjoying two spells at Shelbourne. She also spent two years with Durham, competing in the Barclays WSL2.

Internationally, Noonan has earned 14 caps for the Republic of Ireland, scoring twice. Her arrival marks Watford’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window, adding recognised quality to the squad.
