France U21 deprived of Ethan Mbappé and Senny Mayulu, PSG hit

The Bleuets squad, top of the group with twenty points after the 2-0 win over Estonia, is left without Ethan Mbappé of Lille and Senny Mayulu of PSG, both injured and sent back to their clubs this Wednesday evening.

During the qualifying match, the Lille striker was forced to leave the field as early as the twelfth minute, while celebrating his first start with the Bleuets. Senny Mayulu left the game at the end of the first half, visibly troubled in his left thigh or adductor.

Baticle is concerned

“At the moment I’m speaking to you, I’m worried. I hope I’m worrying for nothing, but I am because I saw the midfield action and I don’t like seeing gestures like that, I don’t like seeing my players in those situations,” said Gérald Baticle after the victory.

The French Football Federation’s statement confirmed that the two youngsters have been ruled out for the rest of the camp. They were escorted out of the stadium by the medical staff after several minutes of treatment.

In agreement with the medical staffs of both clubs, Ethan Mbappé and Senny Mayulu will respectively rejoin Lille and PSG tonight for further examinations to determine the length of their unavailability.

Replacement and upcoming challenges

Coach Gérald Baticle recalled Dehmaine Tabibou from FC Nantes, who will rejoin the squad tonight at Clairefontaine. The Bleuets will then face Luxembourg on Saturday at 7 p.m., and Switzerland on Tuesday at 7 p.m., both at home.

Before these two matches, the French U19 remain top of their group with six wins, two draws and twenty points, thus consolidating their favorable position for qualification to the Euro U19 2027.
