France overturns Belgium in fifteen minutes thanks to three substitutes

France beat Belgium 4-1 on the fourth matchday of the Nations League, scoring four goals in less than fifteen minutes, a feat that has occurred only four times in its history.

A lightning comeback

The French were trailing 1-0 for seventy‑six minutes, the Belgian goal opened by Lukebakio in the thirty‑fourth minute. As early as the thirty‑first minute, substitute Désiré Doué equalised, triggering a series of quick responses.

Four minutes later, Rayan Cherki found the back of the net, followed by two strikes from Michael Olise in the forty‑second and forty‑fifth minutes, sealing the final score.

Scorers on a roll

Coach Zinédine Zidane introduced the trio Cherki, Olise and Doué in the second half, a decision that immediately changed the match dynamics. Each substitute contributed to the victory, Doué and Cherki opening the scoring, Olise adding the brace.

Their performance was praised by the fans, and the three players, who came on during the game, demonstrated the effectiveness of France's new generation.

A Nations League campaign at the top

This win puts France top of Group 1 with ten points, after a 1‑0 win over Turkey, two successes against Belgium (2‑1 then 4‑1) and a 1‑1 draw with Italy.

The first gathering of the Zinédine Zidane era ended with this result, strengthening the French side's position ahead of the fixtures scheduled against Italy and Turkey in November.

Leny Yoro, selected for the first time, said: “I will wait until tomorrow to come down,” expressing the emotion felt after his debut for the French national team.
