France already shaken, Zinedine Zidane faces his first case

The French Football Federation, under the leadership of Zinédine Zidane, is faced with its first sensitive case since his arrival, with the security officer of the Bleus, Mohamed Sanhadji, being placed under investigation for alleged concealment of public funds, influence peddling and corruption.

While the new manager had wanted to keep Mohamed Sanhadji in his role as security officer for the Bleus, the player now finds himself at the centre of a judicial affair. According to L’Équipe, he was placed under investigation last week.

Restrictions imposed on Sanhadji

The competent authorities have banned him from any contact with current or former members of the national team and from accessing the iconic sites of French football, including Clairefontaine, the Stade de France and the Parc des Princes.

His defence describes these measures as “inhumane”, arguing that Mohamed Sanhadji was a familiar and highly appreciated figure within the group.

In the immediate term, the FFF has entrusted the task to Laurent George, who is handling the interim and coordinating travel as well as the protection of the group, pending a permanent replacement.

The French Football Federation must now ensure the continuity of security missions, liaison with local authorities and the protection of the Bleus, as the judicial procedure continues.
