Former Feyenoord midfielder open to a top transfer

Former Feyenoord midfielder open to a top transfer

Wouter Burger, 25-year-old former Feyenoord midfielder, currently has a regular place at Hoffenheim, but remains open to an adventure at another German top club, according to his statements in the Cor Potcast. He emphasizes that he still wants to develop and that a possible move would not be a surprise.

Contract and future plans

Burger recently signed a new contract with Hoffenheim, meaning that, in his own words, he is contractually bound for about another five years. He nevertheless emphasizes that nobody can predict the dynamics of football.

After leaving Stoke City last year, he has developed at Hoffenheim into a regular force in midfield. The move gave him the chance to play at a higher level.

"So far I feel that I am in my place in Germany, so if a German top club comes along, I would find that completely fine for the future," says Burger. "If something really nice comes along, I am, of course, always open to that," he adds.

He praises Hoffenheim as a club that is developing rapidly and describes the team as a sub‑top, which wants to slowly fight against the top. "We are trying slowly to fight a bit against that top to make it as difficult for them as possible," he explains.

The 25‑year‑old feels that since his arrival last year he has been in clear development. "I notice that I sometimes think: make it even harder for me," he says, underscoring his hunger for new challenges.

Although he is open to a possible move, his contract remains valid for another five years, which puts any interested clubs in a negotiation process. Burger concludes that the future in football remains unpredictable.
