Former Bundesliga player Marlon Mustapha moves from Como to Regionalliga Südwest
The 25‑year‑old Austrian Marlon Mustapha leaves the Champions‑League participant Como and signs with the Regionalliga club SGV Heilbronn‑Freiberg, thus moving back to the Regionalliga Südwest after a loan in the Austrian Bundesliga. It is his fourth stint in Germany. The player had previously made six appearances in the German Bundesliga for Mainz 05.
Previous Stints in Germany
Mustapha began his professional career at Mainz 05 before returning to his home country after a loan to Admira Wacker. In the German Bundesliga he accumulated a total of six Bundesliga matches, which was recorded in the photo caption as “Six Bundesliga matches for Marlon Mustapha”.
In 2023 the forward signed with the then second‑division side Como, the so‑called Fàbregas‑club, but he could not establish himself there. This was followed by spells at Fortuna Düsseldorf, Greuther Fürth and most recently a loan stint at SCR Altach in Austria.
SGV Heilbronn‑Freiberg’s Promotion Drive
The Regionalliga club SGV Heilbronn‑Freiberg has been playing in the Regionalliga Südwest since 2022. After securing survival in the first season, the club finished fourth in 2024, third in 2025 and second in the most recent season, underscoring its ambitions to rise to the 3. Liga.
Mustapha now joins an ambitious participant that has already repeatedly occupied the top spots in the table. At SGV he will face a team that has consistently fought for promotion places since its return to the Regionalliga.
The contract with the former Champions‑League participant Como was terminated on Deadline Day by the dissolution of the work permit, making Mustapha immediately available for SGV Heilbronn‑Freiberg.
