Former Bayern star Aznou leaves Munich, seeks breakthrough in England
Adam Aznou, the full‑back jewel once hailed as one of Bayern’s most exciting talents, left the Bavarian capital in the summer of 2025. Everton paid nine million euros, but the young Moroccan showed little patience, as he demanded first‑team appearances too quickly despite modest training performances and immediately looked for a chance in the senior squad.
A photo by Jan Kruger/Getty Images showed Aznou still at the Bayern Academy, where he was regarded as a promising talent. Despite these high expectations, he remained impatient, because he was not satisfied with the usual training standards.
Farewell from Munich 2025
In the summer of 2025 the farewell from Munich finally took place. The young full‑back lost his patience and wanted to see first‑team appearances immediately despite modest training performances. Bayern then gave him no further chance in the senior squad.
First season at Everton
At the Premier League club FC Everton, Aznou received only a single senior appearance. In the FA Cup match against Sunderland he was on the pitch for 34 minutes and even provided an assist. The rest of the time he spent between the bench and the stands and occasionally played for the U21 side. During the current season he also accumulated eight more cup minutes before moving to Málaga in January.
Loan to Málaga and injury
During the current season he was loaned to the Spanish club FC Málaga. There he was in the squad by the fourth matchday after his arrival, but has been sidelined since then due to an adductor injury. The diagnosis predicts a return only after September 30, possibly after the international break. He could be match‑fit again after the international break.
Aznou has already gained experience in the Spanish Primera División, having played for the relegated Real Valladolid in the penultimate season. There he was able to accumulate decent playing time, which is seen as a positive sign of his adaptability. During that period he demonstrated that he can adjust to the Spanish pace of play.
Despite his technical abilities, he often lacks the necessary extra mile. At FC Bayern he did not show the required work rate in training to earn opportunities with the senior players. Such stories are often regarded as a warning sign for the future trajectory of a career.
For the 20‑year‑old full‑back, a great deal is now at stake. If he does not establish himself at Málaga, it will be difficult to re‑enter a top league. The coming period will determine whether he can realise the potential that was once admired at Bayern.
