Former Bayern players take over Estrela Amadora – 90% for €40 million
The threads that held together Bayern Munich's former “jack‑of‑all‑trades” brought Mats Hummels and Thomas Müller together with three other ex‑Bayern professionals to take over Estrela Amadora – for good reasons – on 25 August 2026 the announcement caused a stir when roughly €40 million was paid for 90 % of the shares.
The new CEO: Johannes Mösmang
The new club president and CEO is Johannes Mösmang, a 35‑year‑old native of Munich who worked at Bayern Munich for ten years. There he was the integration officer, head player liaison, and later active in scouting – duties that earned him the nickname “jack‑of‑all‑trades”. His departure in the summer left a gap at Bayern that is compared to the former team manager Kathleen Krüger.
Johannes Mösmang grew up with a German father and a Peruvian mother, lived three years in São Paulo and played in the youth ranks of FC São Paulo. After completing his Abitur he studied law in Heidelberg and played for FC Bammental, before an internship arranged by Claudio Pizarro gave him entry into Bayern. He speaks fluent German, Spanish, English, Portuguese, French and a little Italian.
Investors, deals and future collaborations
Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels, Yann Sommer and Lucas Hernández are among the investors who have taken over Estrela Amadora. Together with the investment group LEAD/ADvantage they provided roughly €40 million to secure 90 % of the shares of the Portuguese top‑flight club. The investors' names give the club a strong face.
At the end of July the former Bayern loan player Lovro Zvoranek moved to Estrela Amadora for a transfer fee of €1.5 million. Although Mösmang and the investor group did not officially have the final say at that time, they had been advising since early July. The Germans were also involved in the sale of centre‑back Otávio to Eintracht Frankfurt for €5 million.
Mösmang emphasized in his presentation at the end of August that the exchange with Bayern would continue, “as already happened with the arrival of Lovro Zvoranek”. He sees the collaboration as an opportunity to integrate more players from the network of ex‑Bayern professionals, and could make Estrela Amadora a model for other top‑flight clubs.
In good Portuguese Mösmang explained that he speaks five languages and wants to strengthen the club’s international profile. His face is now the central symbol for the new investment group that runs the project in Lisbon.
