Former Anderlecht player Luis Vazquez's incredible miss in Birmingham

In Birmingham's stadium, the former Anderlecht forward Luis Vazquez saw his first shot of the season sail over the empty net, echoing the title of the video circulating on Google. After a loan to Getafe, he left Anderlecht this summer for the Blues.

Luis Vazquez's transfer to Birmingham

The transfer was confirmed this summer, when the English club Birmingham signed the Belgian after his loan to Getafe at the end of last season. The contract marks the end of his spell at Anderlecht, where he was regarded as a promising attacking talent.

Slow start in the Championship

Since his arrival, Luis Vazquez has featured in seven Championship matches without scoring a goal. This period contrasts with the high expectations the club had placed on his offensive potential.

On Saturday, against Derby County, he missed a five‑star chance, sending the ball well over the frame. This miss, described as “a miss without consequence”, did not prevent Birmingham from prevailing.

Birmingham eventually beat Derby County 2‑1, the score shown in parentheses (1‑2) confirming the Blues’ victory. The result boosted the team’s confidence despite Vazquez’s lack of a goal.

After seven matchdays, the club sits in eighth place in the table with ten points. This position reflects a campaign still open, with many games to come.

The miss sequence was widely shared on Google platforms, where the video titled “The incredible miss of former Anderlecht forward Luis Vazquez” quickly amassed views. Fans were able to follow the moment in real time, fueling discussions on social media.
