For Servette, Grasshoppers arrive just in time for first points
Servette’s Super League start has been a disappointment. Their first chance to climb off the bottom comes this Saturday against city rivals Grasshoppers.
Both clubs have struggled since the season began. Grasshoppers earned a draw in Lausanne in round one to collect a single point, while Servette remain pointless after two rounds. The direct duel between the two Geneva-based sides kicks off at 20:30 on SRF.
Servette need a positive result. In Super League history since 2003, no opponent has yielded more wins to the Genovese than Grasshoppers. Servette have won 21 of 32 meetings, lost only six, and have not lost any of their last 14 against Zurich’s side. Their most recent streak included three consecutive clean sheets.
The fixture also marks a contrast in age. Servette’s starting lineup averages nearly 29 years, while Grasshoppers’ is just over 24. Despite this, Grasshoppers bring experience: midfielder Amir Abrashi, 36 years and four months old, is the third-oldest starter in the entire league.
For Servette, Miroslav Stevanovic will be especially motivated. The Bosnian midfielder has struggled to find form so far this season, producing a below-par display in the 1-2 defeat at FC Zurich a week ago. Yet against Grasshoppers, his record is outstanding.
Stevanovic has scored seven times against the Zurich club. On 21 March 2026, he netted twice in a 5-0 thrashing at home. That match set a Super League record: Servette led 4-0 after only 18 minutes.
Grasshoppers last league title came 23 years ago, while Servette’s most recent championship dates back 27 years. Combined, the clubs have won 44 Swiss titles, but neither side has shown championship form this season.
Servette and Grasshoppers meet at 20:30 on SRF with pre-match coverage starting at 20:10 on SRF zwei and the Sport App. The game will be broadcast live across both platforms.
