Football pushes FPF to mend Ronaldo and Jorge Jesus relationship

Cristiano Ronaldo's departure from the Portuguese national team training camp in Denmark has sparked a media storm, and the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has decided to intervene to mend the relationship with head coach Jorge Jesus.

The active role of the FPF

Facing the rift created between the captain and Jorge Jesus, the FPF has stated it wants to do everything possible to build a base of consensus, preventing a two‑decade, trophy‑laden career from ending abruptly.

President Pedro Proença, together with the other executives, expressed the intention to prevent a drastic solution that could mark the end of the national team career of the greatest Portuguese player ever.

Fabrizio Romano's statements

Journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that the break occurred after Ronaldo was warmed up for thirty minutes without receiving any playing time, and that Jorge Jesus could have apologized publicly but chose to reaffirm his authority during the press conference.

Romano added that the tension prompted Ronaldo to leave the training ground immediately, leaving the final decision about his national team future in the player's hands.

The FPF, citing the need for a “diplomatic bridge,” now aims to reopen dialogue channels between the coach and Ronaldo, recognizing the symbolic value of the number 7 shirt.

In this context, the federation wants to avoid a division that would be hard to mend between the federation structure, the technical staff, and the fans, maintaining the stability of the Portuguese national team.
