Flick's frustration after the Clasico: We're disappointed, Barcelona lead

Hansi Flick expressed clear disappointment after the Clásico loss to Real Madrid, while Barcelona remains league leader despite the lost match – but with a sharply reduced lead.
No excuses from the coach
The 61‑year‑old coach Hansi Flick left no excuses after the 1‑2 loss. He said: “I tell the truth: today we were not fresh, and we have to change that. We are disappointed.” Flick explained the lack of freshness with travel hardships, because the team had completed several English weeks in a row. At the same time he emphasized: “I don’t want to talk about it when we lose, but when we win. And I accept no excuses.”
Both teams delivered an intense match. Real Madrid won thanks to Kylian Mbappé, who scored in the 41st and 87th minute, while Raphinha scored for Barcelona in the 61st minute.
Real Madrid miss Courtois, Lunin steps in for crucial Clásico
Up to this match Barcelona had recorded nine consecutive wins – the first season defeat came after a perfect opening run. With the loss the Catalans missed the sole opening record in La Liga, which Real had already achieved in the 1968/69 season.
Barcelona remains league leader, however. After the tenth matchday the gap to Atlético Madrid is only two points, and to Real Madrid three points.
Flick assured that the defeat will not raise doubts within the team. He emphasized that in big games details decide and luck was not on their side that day.
