Flick hails Rodri as possibly the world’s best number 6

German coach Hansi Flick could not hide his delight after Barcelona officially completed the signing of midfielder Rodri, with the announcement noted by RodriRoger confirming the Spanish club’s acquisition of the former Manchester City player. The deal sees Rodri wearing the Barça shirt until 2030 and has already sparked enthusiastic comments from the German manager.

Flick's Praise for the New Signing

In a media briefing, Flick told club journalists that the signing was “a great opportunity for us to get him, we were 100% convinced because he is a fantastic player”.

He added that the entire coaching staff shared that conviction.

The briefing was led by TorellóJefe, the Barça section chief.

Flick enumerated several virtues, calling Rodri “a fantastic player who gives each team special things and for me it is great to have him here”.

The German manager highlighted the midfielder’s ability to control the game, contribute defensively, win aerial duels and raise the level of every teammate.

Rodri arrives from Manchester City, where he collected all possible domestic titles.

He also lifted the Balón d'Or two years ago, an accolade earned with his performances for the Spanish national team.

Flick went further, stating “I think he may be the best number 6” in the world.

He emphasized that Rodri’s control, defensive help, aerial strength and capacity to improve teammates fit Barcelona’s needs perfectly.

Rodri's Immediate Availability and Gamper Outlook

Rodri himself said “Me atrae mucho la idea valiente de Flick”, expressing enthusiasm for the coach’s vision.

Despite a recent back intervention after a United States appointment, he confirmed he will be at Flick’s orders on Wednesday morning for the pre‑Gamper session.

Al‑Ahly will face Barça in the Joan Gamper Trophy, but it appears unlikely that Flick will grant Rodri minutes in that encounter.

The club’s focus remains on integrating the midfielder ahead of the season.
