Financial muscle for Porto: Giménez arrives as Mora departs

FC Porto have completed the signing of Santiago Giménez from AC Milan after finalising the departure of Rodrigo Mora to AS Roma in a €50 million package, giving the Portuguese club the financial muscle needed to address gaps on the left side of defence and in the centre of attack.

Mora’s €50 million exit

Finalizado o dossier-Rodrigo Mora, the transfer was confirmed as a move to AS Roma. The deal was structured as a pack of €50 million.

The completion of Mora’s exit provided FC Porto with additional financial resources. These resources are described as ‘muscle financeiro’ to solve squad constraints.

Porto identified two specific areas requiring reinforcement: the left side of the defence and the centre of the attack. Addressing both positions is a priority for the club’s upcoming campaign.

The club then finalised an agreement with AC Milan for the acquisition of Santiago Giménez. Giménez arrives as a forward, directly targeting the centre‑attack vacancy.

By securing Giménez, Porto aims to fill the central attacking role while the newly‑available funds open the possibility of strengthening the left‑back position. The club has not disclosed any further incoming players for the defensive slot.

Overall, the twin moves of selling Mora and signing Giménez equip FC Porto with the means to resolve the identified squad limitations. The next transfer window will reveal how the club allocates the financial muscle across the two areas.
