Filipe Luís faces Monaco’s first winless spell in Ligue 1

Under the floodlights of Stade Louis II, Filipe Luís watched as Ethan Mbappé tucked away Lille’s opener, the match ending 1‑1. The former Flamengo boss could feel the tension rise as his side failed to find a winner for the third successive Ligue 1 outing.

The Brazilian coach’s first period of instability at Monaco arrived after an opening spell that had propelled the club to the top of the French league. Three rounds now pass without a victory, the latest result a stalemate against Lille on Sunday the 25th.

League position under pressure

Monaco sit on 15 points, occupying third place in Ligue 1, while Lille trail by a single point on 14. The tight race means the standings could still shift, especially with PSG and Lyon set to meet on Monday the 26th after their match was delayed by protests in Paris.

Press highlights tactical setbacks

L’Équipe pointed to the early injury to Ansu Fati, who left the field after 15 minutes, forcing Filipe Luís to reshuffle his plans. Mid‑fielder Lamine Camara also drew criticism for a below‑par display and was directly involved in the play that allowed Ethan Mbappé to score for Lille, a side coached by Davide Ancelotti.

Lille hold advantage over Monaco ahead of Sunday Ligue 1 clash

Despite the domestic dip, Monaco continue to thrive in the Conference League, where recent performances have remained positive and provide a counterbalance to the Ligue 1 wobble.

Filipe Luís arrived at the Principality after his stint with Flamengo and swiftly lifted Monaco into the title conversation, but the current run highlights the need for greater consistency when key players falter.

The coming weeks will test the Brazilian’s ability to restore confidence within the squad and halt the winless streak, keeping Monaco within striking distance of the league leaders.
