Feyenoord nets near break‑even €7m deal for Ahmedhodzic

Feyenoord and Burnley have reached an agreement for the transfer of Anel Ahmedhodzic, with the fee reported at roughly €7 million. The deal leaves the Rotterdam side almost break‑even, and a medical examination has been scheduled ahead of the player's move to England.

Fee and agreement details

FR12 reported that the Rotterdammers are ‘almost break‑even’, which translates to a transfer sum of about €7 million. Feyenoord paid €6.9 million for Ahmedhodzic last summer, so the incoming amount is comparable.

Earlier on Wednesday evening FR12 noted that the Clarets had submitted a bid at De Kuip. Within hours the clubs confirmed the agreement and a medical examination was arranged.

The report even asks, “Wat Feyenoord precies overhoudt?” – the answer is still unknown. This suggests the club’s near break‑even status leaves little net gain.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst gave Ahmedhodzic no minutes last season, preferring Jeremiah St. Juste with either Tsuyoshi Watanabe or Thijs Kraaijeveld in central defence. The midfielder also reportedly commands a hefty salary, prompting the club to seek his exit.

Ahmedhodzic arrived from Sheffield United last summer and, alongside Watanabe, was Robin van Persie’s first‑choice centre‑back. The 24‑year‑old right‑footed international performed solidly defensively but did not always excel technically.
