FCN Zoma sensation could boost Mancini's new era for Italy
While Roberto Mancini in his second term is trying to lead the Italian football nation back to its former strength after the Euro triumph of 2021, the FCN offensive of Mohamed Ali Zoma – a 22‑year‑old winger with five goals in five games – could give the Azzurri a fresh boost.
Under the 61‑year‑old coach, Italian football won the European Championship in 2021, but before and after that the four‑time world champion team missed the final stages of the World Cups 2018, 2022 and 2026.
The 27‑year‑old goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma said he was convinced: “I am sure we will return to our former strength, qualify for the European Championship and subsequently for the World Cup. With Mancini, Italy will return to where it belongs,” he said in an interview with Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Italian captain emphasized after the World‑Cup‑less summer: “It was incredibly tough. Now we have to look forward, be optimistic and positive again and build a strong team. And we can only achieve that together.” He added that we should “rewrite our history together.”
Mancini's new era and Nations League plans
In the upcoming Nations League season, the Squadra Azzurra will face Belgium, twice against Turkey and France, with Mancini apparently ready to test new players.

According to Di Marzio, the squad for the four matches on Thursday will be set, and for the first time a player from the German 2. Bundesliga is expected to be represented in the Azzurri lineup.
Zoma: FCN striker in the Azzurri’s sights
The 22‑year‑old Mohamed Ali Zoma, who has collected 13 points for the FCN over five matchdays and contributed with five goals to the second place in the Second League, is now in the focus of the national team.
West Ham United, after relegation from the Premier League, offered up to 20 million euros including bonuses, but the FCN board rejected it because Zoma is contractually bound until 2029 and is expected to stay for at least another season.

An invitation to the Italian national team would not only boost Zoma personally, but also show that Mancini’s project is ready to integrate talent from the Second League.
