FC Twente seal key midfield boost as Zerrouki returns

Erik ten Hag expressed delight after FC Twente completed the permanent signing of 28‑year‑old midfielder Ramiz Zerrouki, with the Tukkers reportedly paying just over two million euros to Feyenoord. The transfer was announced today on the club’s channels, confirming the player’s return to the Dutch side.

The club sees Zerrouki as a scarce profile that can fill a midfield void and reinforce leadership on and off the pitch. The technical director highlighted his key‑player status last season and his ability to assume a leadership role within the squad.

According to the reported figures, De Tukkers are paying just over €2 million to Feyenoord for the midfielder. Zerrouki has also signed a new contract that runs until mid‑2030, securing his services for the long term.

Zerrouki first joined FC Twente in 2019 and remained under contract until 2023. After moving to Feyenoord, he spent the previous season on loan at the Tukkers, where he impressed with consistent performances.

“Their profile is scarce, we are therefore very pleased that Ramiz returns definitively. He has shown last season to be a key player and, on and off the pitch, he is one of the players who fulfills a leadership role. Not for nothing he played with Algeria at the World Cup,” said the technical director of FC Twente.

In total, Zerrouki has already featured in 143 matches for the Tukkers, scoring nine goals and providing thirteen assists. Those numbers underline his contribution during his earlier spell with the club.

“In many conversations we have noticed that we pursue the same high ambitions,” concluded Ten Hag. “Ramiz belongs simply at FC Twente,” he added, confirming the midfielder’s importance to the club’s future plans.
